Broadcast Compliance Training

Ofcom require that all radio broadcasting organisations ensure compliance of their on air staff with the Broadcasting Code of Compliance.

In 2023, West Hull Community Radio appointed a Training and Compliance Manager to assist with onboarding new on air staff, and managing existing staff in a compliant manner. All staff are required to sign that they both understand, and will remain compliant with the Broadcast Code during their on air activity.

Training is currently delivered by a mix of self study materials, and one to one coaching. Classroom style training and update sessions are planned from 2024

All staff are required to sign that they both understand, and will remain compliant with the Broadcast Code during their on air activity. All of our broadcast output is recorded and held for a minimum of 42 days. Any breach of the code must be reported to the directors who will investigate the matter and inform the regulator depending upon the severity of the breach.
